A dining room asks two things of its music: be there, and stay out of every table's conversation. SoundPour is original background music for that job, made with AI music tools on paid commercial plans and reviewed by hand in Darlington. It moves through your service on its own, it is registered with no collecting society, and the paperwork comes with it.
Give the player your opening hours once and it works out where in the day you are. It draws on the whole library rather than a fixed list, weighted to the hour and your setup answers, and any collection you rule out never plays. Nobody changes the music between lunch and dinner, and nobody builds a playlist.
Lunch service. Smooth Jazz is made for exactly this: Parisian café jazz over brushed drums and double bass, for long lunches and the lull just after. Nu Jazz and New London Jazz, two more daytime collections, are in the demo too. When every table is talking, one tap on Instrumental only and nothing sung plays.
Between services. Chill Out is made to live behind conversation rather than in front of it, and Terrace Sessions is sun-warmed downtempo for the tables outside.
Early evening. From mid afternoon the evening end of the library takes more of the weight. Cocktail Hours, bossa grooves and vibraphone, is built for the aperitif and the early sitting.
Dinner service. Dinner is the harder job, because every table wants to hear itself. R&B Nights is slow-burn neo-soul made for evening service, Rhodes chords and a voice used like candlelight. Halftime Hours, slow electronic texture with a half-time pulse, is deep enough to hold an evening room.
Last tables. Coffee, the bill, the floor reset for tomorrow. Set the player to get calmer as the day goes on and it settles towards closing. Leave it running after you close and it carries on for up to an hour, then pauses itself.
If a birthday table changes the mood, whoever is nearest can press Calmer, Busier, Skip or Hold. It runs on any laptop, tablet or phone with a browser, and keeps playing if the broadband drops.
Every track is made with AI music tools, then reviewed by hand in Darlington: listened to in full and kept or rejected. What is left is original work, made new for SoundPour rather than taken from anyone else's catalogue.
None of it is registered with PRS for Music, PPL or any other collecting society, anywhere in the world.
TheMusicLicence covers the PPL PRS repertoire, and SoundPour sits outside that repertoire. What that means for your restaurant is between you and PPL PRS. Our restaurant licensing guide and free checker go into that question in more detail, and only PPL PRS can confirm your own position.
Every subscription includes the Documentation Pack from day one: a written licence, in your business name, to play the music at your premises, and a Declaration of Provenance covering the catalogue. It is written to put in front of PPL PRS or your accountant. It documents our music; it does not answer for your restaurant.
One venue, one annual fee, no add-ons: £149 for the first year at the early sign-up price, then £249 a year from year two. SoundPour is not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add. Every collection is included, new ones too.
We are in private beta, so the first 60 days are free, from the day the music reaches you. Then it is £149 for your first year, or the licence ends and you stop playing it. Nothing bills automatically. A short written agreement comes before any music is sent, and if you change your mind within 30 days of your first payment, we refund it in full.
PPL PRS's own figures for a restaurant are in our guide to how much a music licence costs. Whether both figures apply to your restaurant, ours and PPL PRS's, or only one, is a matter for you and PPL PRS to establish.
The demo is the same player a venue runs. This link starts it on Smooth Jazz, and the Lunchtime and Evening buttons let you hear lunch turn into dinner in a minute. It is a small sample, compressed so it loads quickly; a venue gets the whole library at full quality.

Music that sits under the conversation rather than over it: steady tempos, a warm tone, and nothing sung when the room is full. SoundPour's player moves it from lunch into dinner on its own.
Royalty-free means you pay the supplier and owe it nothing per play, and SoundPour works that way: one annual fee, no add-ons. The term describes how a track is paid for, not whose music it is, and no SoundPour track is registered with PRS for Music, PPL or any other collecting society. What that means for your restaurant is between you and PPL PRS.
That is a question for you and PPL PRS, and we will not answer it on your behalf. It depends on every music source in your restaurant, the kitchen radio and any TV with sound included, not only on ours. The Documentation Pack gives you the facts about our music for that conversation.
A few basic details and we set up a private player with the full library for your restaurant, usually within 24 hours.
